2014 Tournament Schedule to be Posted Tomorrow

Hi all–

The 2014 JustGolf tournament schedule is ready for public consumption and will be posted tomorrow. Please make one or more copies of the schedule and post them in your club and anywhere else you may play. (I understand the absurdity of this message, given present weather conditions, but please keep the copies on hand and post them once you're able to hit the links.)

If you would be able to print a better copy off a Word document, please let me know via e-mail and I will send you the document.

I plan to post the schedule every month, so don't be concerned if your copy gets lost in the e-mail shuffle.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday, and a healthy New Year,
Linda

JustGolf Update

NEED A PC
• Do you have a spare PC (preferably a laptop) you would be willing to donate to JustGolf? It doesn’t have to be fancy – it just has to work. With a PC I might be able to install the TPP (Tournament Pairing Program). This program would enable me to download handicaps and post scores with one click (instead of typing everything in manually, one golfer at a time). It’s not that I have an old-fashioned computer; it’s that the TPP is not compatible with Apple products.

2014 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
I hope to publish next year’s schedule by the end of this month. Six courses are confirmed, one is awaiting Board approval.

CHANGES FOR 2014
The full tournament fee will be collected in advance of each tournament. The purpose is to have less hassle at the course for both players and staff. The refund policy will remain the same [full refund until 10 days before the tournament (3 days for medical emergencies); all but $20 refunded within 10 days of the tournament].

$2 will be added to the cost of each tournament to cover tips. This will guarantee the bag boy $1 per bag at the start and finish of each tournament. Any money not used for tips will be added to the prizes.

The modified scramble handicap percentage will change from 35/15 to 40/25 (40% of the lower handicap + 25% of the higher handicap). This should bring some new names into the winners’ circles.

Drop the Shamble format and substitute a Better Ball.

Tournaments that are Net Only will add one gross prize equivalent to the last place net money if the gross winner does not qualify for a net prize.

Vineyard Rules and Course Information

Please print and bring to the tournament.

Scramble Rules
1. You must use 7 tee shots from each player (Par 3 holes included).
2. Each player tees off on each hole. Select one tee shot and both players play their second shots from that spot, and so on, until the ball is holed. Once the ball is holed, the score for that hole is final.
3. Once you select the shot to be used, place a marker on the ground. The next shot by both players must be hit from within 12 inches of that marker, no closer to the hole. You may not use the 12 inches to improve your condition. Once the ball is on the green, both players must putt from the exact same spot.
4. Record one score for each hole.
5. There are no “gimmies;” hole every ball.

Return completed scorecard in person to the official scorer.
• Women play Red tees; Men play White tees (Standard) or Green (forward)
• Tipping: Please tip the cart boys.

Course Information:
• Out of Bounds: Marked by white stakes and boundary fence posts.
• Do not enter the vineyards or other environmentally protected areas.
• Environmentally sensitive areas: Red stakes with white tops indicate environmentally sensitive areas where entry is not permitted. A ball coming to rest in these areas may not be searched for and must be abandoned. Relief options are the same as for a lateral water hazard.
• Dirt cart paths: There is no free relief from dirt cart paths.
• Drop areas: You may use the drop areas on holes #3 and #13.
• Bathrooms: Portables near holes 3, 6, 14, 15, and behind halfway house.
• Hole location: chart on cart.
• Yardage markers (to center of green): sprinkler heads; red, white, and blue disks (100, 150, 200)
• Carts: drive onto fairways, remain on fairways, exit fairways at signs. Do not drive or park in rough.
• Repair divots with divot mix on cart. Rake bunkers.

• Practice putting green; no driving range.
