Send Seaview Application ASAP

Seaview would like to know the number of golfers for our August 15 tournament by August 1. If you haven’t mailed your application yet, please do your best to mail it today. I have a little bit of wiggle room to add players, but not much.

I don’t want you to be disappointed. If you plan to play, and are unable to mail the application today, please reply to this e-mail indicating your intention to sign up. That will allow me to reserve a spot for you.

Here is a link to the application: http://justgolftournaments.blogspot.com/2016/07/seaview-bay-stableford-application_24.html

Stableford Format Explanation

I will post the application tomorrow for the  JustGolf  Stableford tournament scheduled for Monday, August 15 at the Bay Course at Seaview Golf Club. If you have never played a Stableford, all you really need to know is that you will play your own ball and record the gross score on each hole for both you and your partner. I will convert your scores to Stableford points at the end of your round. Both players’ points count on each hole (aggregate scoring).

Below is a more detailed explanation.

A Stableford is a stroke-play competition in which the high total wins, not the low. That's because in Stableford, your final score is not your stroke total, but rather the total points you have earned for your scores on each individual hole.

This is a two-man or two-woman team tournament in which both players’ Stableford points will be added together.  There are no negative points – if your partner has a bad hole, he will not drag down the team score. The JustGolf Stableford tournament is a net and gross  tournament and awards points as follows:

• Net or gross double bogey or worse: 0
• Net or gross bogey: 1 point
• Net or gross par: 2 points
• Net or gross birdie: 3 points
• Net or gross eagle: 4 points
• Net or gross double eagle (albatross): 5 points

Players will receive 100% of their Course Handicap. The maximum Course Handicap is 18 for men, 24 for women.

Blue Heron Rules and Course Information

Please read and print for reference on the course.

Scramble Rules
1. You must use 7 tee shots from each player (Par 3 holes included).
2. Each player tees off on each hole. Select one tee shot and both players play their second shots from that spot, and so on, until the ball is holed. Once the ball is holed, the score for that hole is final.
3. Once you select the shot to be used, place a marker on the ground. The next shot by both players must be hit from within 12 inches of that marker, no closer to the hole. You may not use the 12 inches to improve your condition. (“Improving your condition” means moving your ball from the rough to the fairway, from an unplayable lie to a playable one, out of a bunker, etc. On Hole #14, if your ball lies in a clump of grass in the large waste area, you may not use the 12 inches to move the ball to the sand.)
4. Once the ball is on the green, both players must putt from the exact same spot.
5. Record one score for each hole.
6. There are no “gimmies;” hole every ball.
7. One player from each team in your pairing must return the completed scorecard together, in person, to the official scorer.

ALL JUSTGOLF LOCAL RULES ARE IN EFFECT.
CELL PHONES: Use prohibited except for emergencies. Silence phones.
OBSTRUCTIONS: All cart paths are immovable obstructions and relief may be taken in accordance with Rule 24-2b (stance plus 1 club-length at nearest point of relief, no closer to hole).
STONES IN BUNKERS: Movable obstructions; they may be removed if they interfere with your swing (Appendix I, Part B, Local Rule #5).
OUT OF BOUNDS: Defined by white stakes and fences. See Rule 27. No free relief from OB stakes or fences. If ball is unplayable, drop within two club-lengths and add one penalty stroke to your score.

Additional Information
Practice area: Putting green, chipping area, driving range (free balls)
Check-in: Register on the patio outside the pro shop. Go to the first tee ten minutes before your starting time.
Distance measuring devices are permitted. You may only use them to measure distance.
Do not post your scores. Scramble scores are not acceptable for posting.

Local Rules
• Replace divots if large; otherwise, repair with divot mix stored on cart.
• Waste areas (no rakes) are not hazards. You may ground your club.
• All homes and property lines are out of bounds. Do not enter private property to retrieve your ball.
• Flags on greens for hole location: Red (front), White (middle), Blue (back).
• Yardage measured to center of green: sprinkler heads, posts on the side of the fairways (Red=100, White=150, Blue=200), 150-yard barber poles.
• Cart rules: Drive on the fairway. Do not drive or park in the rough.

Specific hole information:
The distances below are in order: White/Red.

#3: To carry bunker on right: 234/108.
#5: To carry bunker on right: 202/160. To reach second set of bunkers on right: 243/201.

#10: To carry bunker on left: 176/124. To reach bunker on right: 237/185.

#12: To carry first bunker: 206/150. To reach second bunker: 236/180.
#13: To end of dogleg: 221/184.
