McCullough’s Local Rules and Course Information

Please read and print for reference on the course.
Local Rules
• Preferred lies on closely-mown areas: mark, clean, place within 12 inches.
• Please repair ball marks, replace divots (use divot mix if divot not intact), and rake bunkers.
• Out of Bounds is marked by fences, white lines, or stakes.
• Blue Octagon caps are immovable obstructions (free drop within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole).
• Drive carts on fairways and first cut of rough only. Do not drive on deep rough or on mounds. On Hole #7 you may drive through the sandy waste area.
• If your ball strikes a telephone pole, play it as it lies.
• If your ball strikes a telephone line (wire), you must replay the shot.
• Hole location: green (front), white (middle), orange (back).

General Information
• This is a team net and gross tournament. Men will play the standard White tees (69.2/123) or the forward Gold tees (65.1/114). Women will play the Red tees (68.9/117).
Return scorecard with two signatures in person to the official scorer. All four players must submit the two scorecards to the scorer at the same time and wait until the cards have been reviewed.
Arrive at the first tee ten minutes before your tee time. Practice putting green is located near first tee.
• Maintain a good pace of play. Keep up with the players in front.
• $2 of your tournament fee will be used to tip the bag handlers.
• Applications for the Championship/Better Ball at Linwood (Thursday, September 7) will be available at the registrar’s table.

Format
• Scramble, holes #1-6. Both players tee off. Select the shot you want to play, and both players hit from that spot. Continue in this manner until the ball is holed. Once the ball is holed your score is official, so be sure to mark your ball on the green if your partner has not yet putted.
After you decide which shot you will play, mark the spot with a tee or ball marker. Each player must place the ball within 12” of that tee no closer to the hole and play his next shot. YOU MAY NOT USE THE 12” TO IMPROVE YOUR CONDITION (stay in the rough, in a bunker, behind a tree, OB, etc.).

• Better ball, holes #7-12. Each competitor plays his own ball. Record both gross scores unless you pick up because you are out of a hole (strongly recommended). Record X if you pick up.
Preferred lies in closely-mown areas – mark, clean, place within 12 inches, no closer to hole.

• Selected drive–alternate shot, holes #13-18. Both partners tee off. Select which drive you will play, and alternate hitting that ball to the hole. If you select A’s drive, then B will hit the next shot, A will hit the third shot, etc. Note: You MAY NOT switch balls to play your own preferred brand, including for putting. Preferred lies in closely-mown areas – mark, clean, place within 12 inches, no closer to hole.

• Disqualification: If you play the wrong format on any hole the team will be disqualified. The format for each six holes is noted on your scorecard. Signs on the seventh and thirteenth holes will remind you of the format.

• Time of starting: If your partner is late, you must start without him at your assigned tee time. Your partner may join you as late as the start of Hole #13. If you have begun play of a hole, your partner will begin play at the start of the next hole.

Course Information
• Bathrooms (portables) located on holes 6, 8, and 14.
• All barber poles mark center line of fairway – good aim point.
#3: Yellow-staked hazard on right has a path running through it. If your ball enters from the back, it is in a water hazard; if it enters from the side, it is in a lateral water hazard.
#4: Fence around white shed and silo is an out-of-bounds fence. No free relief. Drop within two club-lengths, no closer to hole, add a one-stroke penalty.
#6: Note the sign to the left of the White tee box indicating 231 yards to water hazard. From the Red tee box, 185 yards to water. There is no water in the part of the hazard at the end of the fairway, and the area is mowed. If you hit your ball into the section of hazard to the right of the fairway, the grasses are high and you will more than likely need to take relief (one-stroke penalty, Rule 26-1).
There is a red-staked hazard (lateral) behind the green.
#7: From Red tee, the hole is a dogleg left.
From White tee, two choices: aim at either of the two 150-yard posts. You may drive your cart through the sandy waste area.
#11: Aim right of the tower. The pole is 100 yards from green. Suggestion: One person tees off and drives immediately to fairway to spot everyone else’s tee shot.
The hazard behind the green is marked with yellow stakes; they should be red. Treat it as a lateral hazard.
#13: You may not use the drop area next to the green. Drop within two club-lengths of where your ball last crossed the margin of the hazard – one-stroke penalty.
The fence behind the hole is an OB fence. No free relief. Drop within two club-lengths, no closer to hole; one-stroke penalty.
#15: Sharp dogleg right. If your tee shot lands anywhere on the fairway between the 100-yard marker and the end of the fairway, you will have a clear shot to the green.
