Blue Heron Course Information and Tournament Rules

Applications for the Mixed Modified Scramble at Town & Country on September 26 will be available at the registrar’s table. If you would like me to try to find a partner for you, please give your application and fee to the registrar or mail it as soon as possible. I will refund your $20 registration fee if I do not find you a partner, but I am fairly confident I can find partners for everyone who gives me sufficient time to inquire.

Blue Heron Pines – Course Information

Blue Heron Pines offers a tour of the course on its website. Here is the address:

You may purchase a yardage booklet at the course for $1.

Because of the availability of all of this easily accessible and accurate information, I will not be providing a hole-by-hole distance reference sheet at the tournament.

Hole positions indicated by colored flags: Red (front); White (middle); Blue (back)

Distance information: 150-yard barber pole in middle of fairway; 100-yard post at side of fairway; yardage on sprinkler heads. All yardage is to the center of the green.

Free range balls

Fee at course: $35

Tips: Please don’t forget to tip the men who load your clubs onto your cart and clean your clubs at the end of your round.

Tournament Rules

DO NOT POST YOUR SCORES. The tournament director will post all tournament scores.

Local Rule, Hole #6: The property behind the rope on the right side, from the tee to the 100-yard marker, is private property. You may enter discreetly to retrieve an errant ball, but you may not play it. Treat that area as a Lateral Hazard: Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the point where your ball entered the area, and add one penalty stroke to your score.

1. Each player receives 90% of his Course Handicap.

2. This is a better ball tournament. Please pick up if you know your ball will not count. If you pick up, record your “most likely score” preceded by an “X,” e.g., X-6.

3. Record both scores for each hole, even if you pick up. Every player’s score will be posted.

4. There are no “gimmies;” every ball that is potentially the better score must be holed.

5. All USGA rules and JustGolf Local Rules (see link on website) are in effect.

6. Preferred lies in effect on all closely-mown areas. (Note: The first cut of rough is NOT a closely-mown area.) You may lift, clean, and place your ball within one foot, no closer to the hole.
